FAQs

  • What do I need to do now to set this up?

If you would like to discuss the possibility of therapy, there is a form at the end of the website that you can complete and you will receive a call back or email, (we aim to do this within 48 hours).  You are also welcome to ring on 07940 395296.  In the call back, we can discuss in brief what is happening for your child, and their requirements.  We can then arrange a day for an initial appointment to discuss this and for the therapist to assess whether therapy seems like it is right for them.  You, as the parent, may be part of this initial appointment, either for the first part or the entirety; this is flexible and depends on the feelings and needs of the young person.

  • Is there a waiting list?

At present there is availability and new clients can be seen within days of initial contact.

  • How long will therapy take?

Each patient is different, in their needs, the way they engage in therapy and how quickly this leads to emotional shifts.  For some, it might be that they only require between 6 and 10 sessions, whilst for others it may be more like 15-20, and for others it may need to be longer term.  We would, however, keep you updated after 10 sessions if more time is required.

  • Is face-to-face therapy an option?

Yes, in-person sessions are offered in a dedicated therapy room, in peaceful surroundings.  For some patients, online therapy is a preferred method of receiving counselling and we can offer sessions over a variety of suitable platforms.

  • How much do you charge, and are there any hidden costs?

Our pricing is transparent in order to minimise concerns.  The cost for an initial appointment (1 hour) is £35, thereafter the sessions are 50 minutes in length, and cost £55.  Payment is to be made by transfer before each session.  If a session has to be cancelled by yourselves, this must be done via email or text with at least 24 hours notice of the session time to avoid payment.

  • Do I get to sit in the sessions with my child?

Under normal circumstances, your child would be with the therapist on their own during  each session. This supports the development of a trusting therapeutic relationship, which is key to successful counselling, and the confidentiality of the work.  For online sessions, it is important that the young person is positioned in a place of privacy.  If your child were to become overwhelmed or intensely anxious and requests your presence, it may be appropriate to invite you in for a while in order to reassure them.

  • Do you write reports for parents, schools and health providers?

We are able to provide brief letters to school or health providers as evidence of their attendance as required.  If more lengthy reports are required, a fee of £10 would be required, (as well as the permission of the young person for any details to be disclosed).  Reports are not provided to parents, however general updates on progress and levels of engagement will be sent out periodically to keep you in the loop.
